I thought it was about time that I summarized my feelings on HBP--or more accurately, my feelings on other peoples' reactions to it. So here we go.

Today we learned that when you father calls you long distance to let you know that the school library sent a notice about your overdue books...it's time to take them back. I guess it wasn't obvious enough to me that this was the correct course of action what with the 500 e-mails they sent me already. I have no clue why I didn't take the damn books back as soon as that paper was finished with, it's not as if I have any love *at all* for Ms. Margaret Atwood--when she dies I'll dance on her grave and cackle with glee that an annoying feminazi-canuck has left this world--I just had so many things going on, and those books just sat there and sat there. *Sigh* I don't think I'll ever let that happen again, or maybe I'll just refrain from taking books out of the library at all. Because, $40 bucks in late fees? Yeah...that's a bunch of money that I just pissed away.

Money that could have been spent on the new Coldplay album (and then some). I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to buy this one though. It's...good...but it's so consistently good that it's...boring? They tried so hard to stick with what works for them that there's nothing really interesting or buy-worthy about the album. But I love Coldplay, I really do. Maybe they'll make good on their next try.

Even Radiohead has their moments, like Hail to the Thief which has about 2 or 3 songs that I enjoy. I know they really wanted to get back to the 3 minute song schtick after exploring with Kid A and Amnesiac, but it was a poor try. There There and 2+2=5 are exceptions from that. There There is probably my favorite Radiohead song; it's just so gorgeous and it has the best guitar bit near the end. I hear that their next album (which won't be any earlier than Spring '06) is going to be Kid A-ish, which is exciting for me because that's where a lot of their strength is, I think. I listen to Paranoid Android (yes, it's OK Computer but you can't help but hear some early influences for Kid A) and Everything in its Right Place and I just squee with the beautiful way they handle the computer/electronic thing.

I want to be blown away by some new music. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Who, they all do it for me so well...does that mean that none of my other favorite (and more recent) bands have it in them?

Sometimes I don't feel like updating simply because I'm too lazy to type coherent, linking paragraphs--blame it on college term papers, I'm burned out. So I'm going to try bullet points this time!

  • Life Stuff: Got that job that I interviewed for. I start on the 20th, which leaves a little bit of time left to goof off and pretend that I'm carefree. Since it's back home, I'm going to have to start packing my shit in preparation for the move. Not looking forward to living with my parents again, but it's only for 2 months. I can do it. I think.

  • Star Wars: It's crazy that I was spoiled for Episode III since November 2003. When I watched it in theaters (and, I might add, I was a total Star Wars movie theater virgin! Seeing "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...." and the Star Wars logo appear on the big screen was one for the history books for me) everything played out exactly like the spoilers said it would. I admit, in retrospect I think I would've liked to see the movie without being spoiled first...but I still stand by my assessment that it was the best of the prequels, and ranks right up there with the Original Trilogy (prior to SE and DVD butchery).

  • Veronica Mars: The spoilers are uncomfortable. I just pray that this show that I've totally fallen in love with won't implode on itself in its second season. I waited 2 years to be obsessed with a television show again, please don't let me down.

  • Harry Potter: The wait for HBP is getting shorter and shorter! Granted, I can't buy the book when it comes out. I've only got the soft cover versions of the others, I can't defect from form now! I have to wait until the soft cover comes out a year later in order to have an actual copy. This means that I'm going to have to either borrow someone elses', or do what I did for OotP. And I can't say what that was.

  • Matrix Online: I am not your typical RPG geek, I'm totally not. I hate RPG games, hate all that D&D crap and the stereotypical nerds that go with it. That being said, when a game comes along that allows me to pretend that I'm a part of one of my favorite movie franchises...I have to get involved! This is a totally cool experience that was worth the money.

Taking a break from studying for my mid-term exam tomorrow. As if I need a break, hah! I've been putting this off all day, hell, all weekend! Then I decided I would pull an all-nighter and I'm taking little breaks during that too. My subject line speaks the truth.

So I have a job interview for next Thursday, which is very exciting as the job in question is an excellent opportunity. I hope to muster the motivation to go shoe shopping tomorrow so that I can be fashionistically prepared for it. Other than that, I'll devote some time to reviewing common questions and preparing answers...but that won't come until after this mid-term has blown over.

Episode III was magic; there really are no words. It would take me a lifetime to remark on how much I loved and was thoroughly satisfied with this film.

That's it.

Cut for rambling on BC election )

But on to cheerier subjects...

The tickets have been purchased for the ROTS midnight showing on Saturday! Though I loved the atmosphere of opening night when I went to see the LOTR films, I just can't bring myself to endure the level of insanity that will be present for Star Wars. I'm obsessed with it as much as the next early-line-up-nerd, but nobody needs to know that!

And watching the various teaser trailers and tv spots make it that much harder to wait...I'm going to be sad, I know it. Star Wars will be all over. But, honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. The thought of there being potential for the creation of Episodes VII, VIII, and IX is chilling...and not in a good way. I can let the saga die as far as installments go, but it's going to be hard nonetheless. I suppose I'm just lucky that I'll finally get to see a SW movie in the theater. :D

Ever since Buffy ended, fans of the show have been searching for that something to replace it. Many shows provided this opportunity: Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Desperate Housewives, Veronica Mars, etc. Some people found solace with one or more of these new television wonders, others are still looking.

Veronica Mars: Don't over-hype it )

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Let it RIP )

So those are my thoughts on those subjects. No intention to offend anyone.

Got woken up this morning by a pack of crazy people. Seriously, why does everyone have to move out on the same morning? And for some insane reason, my roommate decided to clean the bathroom before leaving...dude, I'm going to be here for another 4 months, I can do it! I want to use the shower before I leave for home around mid-to-late afternoon and this is *not* helping! I also have to take back those DVDs, though I might keep the Pink Panther for the weekend because it's not due back until next thursday. Then I have to pack, and get food, and drive, and drive, and drive. Good driving times ahead.

Cut for Veronica Mars spoiler speculation )

But yeah, it looks like I might be able to have that shower afterall, and start my packing.

I watched "The Stepford Wives" tonight (this morning?) because once again, the internet does not deliver entertainment in the early waking hours. I knew it was going to be bad, but I watched it anyway...does that make me a masochist? Anyway, it *was* pretty bad, but some parts were entertaining too. I went into thinking that I was going to hate Nicole as a high-powered business bitch, but I was actually rooting for her almost the whole time. There were lots of wtf moments, and I wouldn't recommend the film to anyone else...however, the Walken factor was strong with this one and damn but that man has the power to save *any* film that he's in. I need to rent "The Deer Hunter" again and reflect on his long and industrious career. Christopher Walken <3

I leave for home tomorrow, which I'm totally not looking forward to. Luckily for me, my parents are going to be away for much of the visit so I'll be organizing blockbuster parties and emptying their liquor cabinet! Really, it's a bloody godsend that they're not going to be there for the whole time because I can't stand them at all anymore. I always feel like everything I do will never be good enough for them. Being around in that environment pisses me the fuck off, so I will do my best to get through the actual visiting part as well as I can, and then just chill and live it up as soon as they leave the house. Phew!

I can't believe that the next Veronica Mars episode is only in 4 days! I know, I know, that's well over half a week, but c'mon! We're getting down to the wire here, and omg if it isn't going to be the most squee-worthy episode ever!
